GUTEN TAG
to alles
it's saturday

and it's AMiGo weekend here in minden: AKA just about everything in my life stops for the gospell festival, and i go and volunteer and get free food and a free crunk polo shirt and a free name tag and a free name tag band. YAY
aw and it's Holger's Geburtstag!

aw hahaha

HOLGER

he's so cool, no one understands. Emily totally would though. awww he's so...Holgerish! i want to put a picture on here. heck, i want to take a picture. haha but we all sat outside and had a "german bbq" and then josephine and i made SMORES! it was sooooooo fun! man, and no one had ever heard of them before except for one of holger's friends who spent 6 months in the US being a camp counselor. WOAH. so i brought the smore world to Deutschland, and everyone liked them.

and i got a handy. it's oh so cute. (pshaw, handy= german for cell phone)

but peter told me your "status" in the school is all about the cell phone. like its really cool to have the newest trendiest cell phone, then you're automatically cooler than you would be otherwise. weird, no? i think so...but uhoh, i don't know if my 19 euro handy's going to do the trick.

i love wearing skirts, i decided
and i love the fact that nothings going on on sundays
and i love the fact that holger bought a new vacuum cleaner 2 weeks ago, and tonight he made sure that everyone had seen it, and the people who hadn't seen it yet, he took inside to show them the new vacuum
and i love the fact that we eat the big meals for lunch, rather than dinner and we eat bread for dinner, but it's not called bread, it's called "AbendBrot"
and ilove the fact that if you add an -en- to a noun, it becomes a verb. i.e= Fruehstuck becomes Fruehbstucken! (aka the word breakfast becomes a verb...breakfasting? hahahahahahahHAHA)
and i love the fact that i had champaign at 10 45 in the morning
and i love the fact that holger got a birthday card with an im-so-incredibly-almost-naked-woman on it, and it got me thinking, what if that were you on the card, and someone gave the card to your brother for his birthday, not knowing that it was the sister on the card, haha that would be weird.
and i love the fact that last night i watched the same exact movie two times in a row, with toast inbetween the runs, and i totally loved it, and wouldn't change ANYTHING at all about my friday night
and i love that i'll be in berlin in less than 48 hours
and i love the fact that i know a guy named Ecke (that's german for corner, haha) and he showed me pictures of his motorcycle tour
and i love the fact that there's a politically incorrect chocolate here in minden
and most of all i love the fact that i'm actually loving something right now and not really feeling the least bit misterable.
and i love the fact that probably nobody but mumsiedearest read this far, but who cares? because i'm feelin good about germany right now, and yay, it's been a while since i've actually felt good about it all and really enjoyed it. but i really really enjoyed tonight, just sitting there, not really even talking, but i did enjoy SO much observing everyone and laughing at so many random things that only i thought was funny and that no one else in the world would probably think funny but i laughed out loud anyway....

oh this is so long, but who cares? unless something incredibly crazy happens tomorrow, this is my last entry until i'm home from Berlin, so this ONE BLOG has to last you a week and a few extra days! GOOD LUCK. haha until i return!!! YAY

i went to volleyball last night, and i'm totally glad! it was AWESOME. i thought it would be just a bunch of people playing around, because that's what my host mom said, but it's actually a team! all the girls are SOOOO nice, and practice every wednesday and have a game a month. i'm not nearly as bad as i thought i'd be, but i swear my arms are about to fall OFF. they're all red and sad a swollen. but hey, it was totally worth it.

so yesterday before volleyball, i went bike riding and came across this awesome store called "afro style." it was totally awesome, and not all about the hair dew- there were cool african style dresses and jewlrey and all that jazz. crunk, if you ask me, but then as i was returning there where my bike was parked i was approached by this young guy that worked there, and he starts rambling on in german. i couldnt understand a WORD of what he was saying, so he was like oh yah don't worry, i speak english, too. so he proceeded to talk to me in english and i STILL couldn't understand a word of what he was saying. that whole, you know, smile and nod thing really works, though, and i do it i dunno ALL THE TIME. so then he keeps talking and talking and im like o m g i want to leeave and he proceeds to give me his number just in case i want to have some "real fun" on the weekends. thanks, JAY JAY, but maybe later...yes maam his name was JAY JAY. AHH run away. weird. so then he was like, oh please stay and look inside some more, we have a cool internet cafe and cool post office, and yada, but then i said i had to get home for supper and ran away

hows that for a wednesday, eh? oh jay, jay, adjectives fail me.

T minus 4 days till Berlin KLASSENFAHRT! (yay!)
which means
11 days till i see phoebe and ben!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!

aw i'm sick of not having pictures. that's no fun. it kind of gives me something to do, taking pictures of everything, but now that i know i can't share them, it's more difficult.

so what do you do on a rainy monday afternoon when you have no sports, no friends, and no homework? you make PUZZLES! yay. so i made three 50 piece ones, then a 100 piece one, then the entire family walks in and they're like YAY puzzles, so they decided to make it a whole big family project to complete a 500 piece puzzle, without a picture. HA. gee, it was just something to make me happy for an hour or so. oh well, it was fun

aw man. so last night was SO freaking awesome. so i came home from school, thinking it would pretty much be like the other friday nights, film watching, hanging out with Petra and Peter, just chilling, who knows what. but then i get a call from Lucenda, another exchange student in another town, 15 minutes outside of minden. she was like hey, margaret, there's a big party here, and i was wondering if you wanted to come. Sure, i said. so i give the phone to Petra to kind of keep up with the details, and she talked to Lucenda's host sister, Nadine. So after dance class, which was also cool, im totally going back next friday, she drove me the 15 minutes where we met Nadine in a parking lot.

There were 6 boys, Nadine, and Lucenda just standing there. so im like ok 6boys, a german girl, and another exchange student who speaks no german. this could be interesting. so none the less, petra agrees to pick me up at 1 (AH ONE!) and we all go hang out at Nadine's house. the doorbell rings and about 16 other people come in- ALL GUYS AH. and all NOT 15 like every other person in my class. i was on the couch next to sibistian and Benjamin, and we all talked the entire time, also talking to other people. o m gosh i actually felt sane, and was having a GREAT time meeting all these people and drinking a bit (sorrrrry mumsie-don't worry though not TOO much!) and just hanging out

so then, we all get up and walk forever to the next town over and the entire way i'm taking to lucas, and sebastian and benjamin keep poking me and such, and we're all running around and singing random german drinking songs, and they're just being teenage guys, all of them. so we pick up two other girls on the way, both of whom i talked to for a pretty long time while walking, and both of whom are OBSESSED with adam brody and think america's awesome. most of my convos had to do with Bush, my opinion about him, american/german stereyotypes, and my learning of random german slang. AH

so we all finally get to the party, which is this HUGE tent and all these people, and we hang out there, and dance. HA it's totally cool, because they all didn't dance dirty at all, which i totally loved. it was more like everyone stood in big circles with their arms around each other, just jumping up and down. then i danced with one of my pals from the party for a while, just ranodmly jumping around and all, and EEEK IT WAS SO FUN

alas, aaaah i had a great friday night, easily the best time i've had since moving in with the fam, haha a little better than the old people party, i must admit.

AHHHH i hope we can all hang out again, but who knows. it kinda really sucks that they live a ways away, but still they were all TOTALLY awesome, and the party was totally fun, and YAY!!!!

and berlin class trip in a week! ALSO YAY, but even yayer for my first fun, REAL german friday night!

pictures still aren't working.

but now, at least, it shows the picture, but there's no DONE button at all

HELP

i clipped my nails on the side walk in front of our house today, just to kind of see what people would do. everyone was riding past and staring at me so bad and laughing and staring some more. AH. but i just kind of laughed, because i know if i saw someone randomly clipping their nails on the side walk, i'd laugh too.

i took a bike ride into the city to finally become an official citizen of Minden, then i rode along the river walk on my bike and ate a Doener or good time's sakes. oui what a blast. this, of course, was before the highlight of my day, which was definately the clipping toenails thing

ALAS another week
good news to all....today, in physics I ANSWERED A QUESTION OUT LOUD IN CLASS. because i actually KNEW what was going on!

THANK YOU DOCTOR BOB!

he's my hero and oh so cute

so what's happened in the last few days? i went to a hallariously lame german party with about a zillion old people. and that was pretty boring, but still then later that day we went up a huge TOWER! AH with 127 steps and saw the most gorgeous view of all of minden and AH

awww it was magnificant!

then we all got to eat pizza together and YAY! aww it was fun after all. but for now i can't really think about all the crap and lame and boredom lame and crap things, because i'm totally pshyced that i actually participated in class today. wow i wish i were this euphoric when participating in class in America. oh well. i think i really want to buy a hackie sack, because these guys always play in the courtyard at breaks, and i think it would be crunk to play with them! something to do....

awww i love phoebe! it's been a good last couple days

So yesterday was Friday, hallaylooyah. i feel so bad for my chem teacher. we have him ONLY the first thing on monday and the last thing on friday. he just talks BLA BLA on and on and on and no one listens

awww hes "so smart, but really dull" according to my class mate. ok.

anyhway, so friday afternoon i went to a real German wedding. it was quite humorous, though, because they played like polka folk dancing music. HAHAH not your traditional music, i must admit, but who cares. its still totally awesome, because HEY it's a german wedding. the bride and the groom walk in together, arm in arm, and sit in chairs at the altar, it's basically a show where the preacher/music is the entertainment.

oh yah. and have YOU ever worn Jeans and a faded old navy vintage polo to a wedding? i have....and it was totally acceptable.

crazy. that's all for my friday, save watching ROCKY three. haha i fell asleep during rocky one, but my host dad like really really likes rocky. it's even harder to enjoy in german....AHHHh

the picture thing still isn't working too well, but i've taken a lot.. hopefully later it'll hapen. oh well

allllll my love

WHY WON'T BLOGGER LET ME PUT PICTURES ON MY BLOG?

LAME
LAME
LAME
LAME
LAME

it keeps saying "click DONE" and i say YAY it finally worked, then i click done and THERES NOTHING on the page. phoebe? ben? the only two people i know with a blogger. what's happening? it's quite frustrating.

here's what i wrote, and i was going to put on a few crunk pictures....
Today was nice. we had sport again, but instead of spending the two hours playing with ribbon dancer things, we definately spent the two class periods playing with jump ropes. wooptie doo. but i DID buy a crunk new pair of shoes (i only have three, two of which are high heeled "night time" shoes! but now four--yay) with my host mumsie in the city, and now i feel like a real german because i have a real german bank account and real german tennis shoes! YAY! and i think i have plans for the weekend with the girl who sits next to me in class. EVEN BETTER. that makes this day totally more awesome.

anyway, i've been getting plenty of requests to see the house/where i live, etc, but i don't have a picture of the house, but here's (NOT) one of my room, and hopefully (but NOT because it didnt work, even after 12 times of trying) one of me and justus in the garden! aww cutsiepootsie

anyway, all for now!

So after talking to Phoebe on the Phone yesterday, i Couldn't help but feel oh so inspired. I went today into the Stadt (city) which is only like a 10 minute bike ride....leisurly. not even peddling a lot. MAN that's cool. Anyway, so i just went and shopped around and bought a lot of paper and a cool flowy pen. Then i thought about andy, because He once bought a really expensive flowy pen.

Here is the city of Minden. Pretty cool. So anyway, then i went in search of the cool, edgy, trendy spot in town. Both the parents said that one didn't exist, as did the girl who sits next to me in class. needless to say, i didn't find this part, but i DID find an amazingly GORGEOUS riverside neighborhood with a few cool trendy coffee places and such. and this cool etched artwork thing:

Anyway, ok so then i came home finally and sat in my windowsill for who knows how long, just looking out at the sky, which is more than beautiful right now. i've never seen this in Minden Before, and now i'm more than happy i've had a beautiful beautiful day and a good time exploring the city. It's something i haven't thought about in a while, but i know for a fact when i get back to Memphis i want to LIVE there, as i am trying to do here. i want to explore it and take advantage of all there is to do in the big city and in midtown. memphis isn't all about Gtown and lame crap. it's about the big city life, the midtown feel, and the absolute awesomeness of it all. I'm kind of understanding now, that im gone, the appeal of the whole scene of it all. those who are still living in memphis, i urge you to go out there.dont think its just that whole lame Gtown thing like i have thought for the last 17 years. GO EXPLORE and have a freaking awesome time doing it! i wanted to put a picture of the AMAZING sky on here, but the computers not letting me, so so much for that.
it was gorgeous, anyway...

Yesterday, i decided to take a random stab at photography, with my oh so cute and small digital camera, and here's pretty much what i came up with. i like it. it shows pretty much just exactly how Justus is like...cute, but totally up to no good. The Fam always says he's a "radio, but with no off button!" oh how i agree. The cute little bundle of Joy and Energy makes pretty much everyone feel a little bit younger.

or alittle annoyed?

both, but hey don't we all have our little quirks? i'd say so.

yesterday i went to a scottish dancing show. i was totally expecting like a SHOW but in reality it was simply a bunch of people dancing around in skirts. or kilts, shall we say. oh the joy.

anyway, i hope to keep this blog up all year, and look back on it and see all the utterly fantastically random stuff i did!

YAY
